This option is ignored when using MacCompress format.
This option maps carriage returns to line feeds and vice versa during compression and decompression.
ΓÇó When transporting a text file from a Unix system to a Macintosh, or from a Macintosh to a Unix system, this mapping is essential to produce properly terminated lines of text.
ΓÇó If you are transporting non-text files, you will want to turn this option off.
Note that the mapping is symmetrical; therefore compression using MacCompress with this option on followed by decompression using MacCompress with this option on will produce an identical copy of the original file.
